South Orange Safe Streets 4 All Plan

• Community Meeting to present the plan will be June 24!

• The South Orange Safe Streets for All (SS4A) Action Plan aims to reduce the number of roadway fatalities and serious injuries within South Orange Village. 

• The plan will enhance the safety, mobility, and quality of life for all roadway users, especially vulnerable road users such as bicyclists, pedestrians, and people of all ages and abilities. It also promotes a data-driven and community-led approach to improving safety, access, and quality of life.

Established by Resolution 2023-054 in February 2023, Walk Bike Ride South Orange is a municipal advisory committee that advises the South Orange Village Council on community mobility issues, prioritizing concerns related to pedestrians, bicycling, traffic calming, and public transit.  The Committee’s purview is not limited to the following, but includes:

• Advocating for safe, improved pedestrian, cycling and public transportation infrastructure and experiences

• Providing input into design and operation of crossings, roadways, sidewalks, and multi-use paths;

• Serving as a forum for community input;

• Promoting traffic safety enforcement and education; and

• Creating events and activities that engage the public in non-automobile transportation modalities.
