Essex County Safety Survey
Help Essex County create a plan to improve pedestrian, bicycling, and traffic safety in SOMa and throughout the county! Fill out the online survey at bit.ly/essex-ss4a by March 31 to share your concerns and ideas using an interactive map -- especially on county roads like Valley, Wyoming, Scotland, South Orange Ave, and Irvington Ave. We'll also be asking for community input again later in the year for the creation of a South Orange-specific Safe Streets Action Plan.

Established by Resolution 2023-054 in February 2023, Walk Bike Ride South Orange is a municipal advisory committee that advises the South Orange Village Council on community mobility issues, prioritizing concerns related to pedestrians, bicycling, traffic calming, and public transit. The Committee’s purview is not limited to the following, but includes:
Advocating for safe, improved pedestrian, cycling and public transportation infrastructure and experiences
Providing input into design and operation of crossings, roadways, sidewalks, and multi-use paths;
Serving as a forum for community input;
Promoting traffic safety enforcement and education; and
Creating events and activities that engage the public in non-automobile transportation modalities.
